As a Summer 2022 Experience Design Research intern, you will support initiatives with cross disciplinary product teams to investigate and help define ideal product experiences for our customers. The Experience Design Researcher at Autodesk is a relentless customer advocate, possesses a passion for human-centered design, and has a track record of executing highly impactful research with cross-functional teams. Our researchers leverage a wide variety of research methods and work in lockstep with their teams to envision, validate, and ship high-quality experiences our customers will love.
The role will require top-notch research skills, along with a strategic mindset and the ability to collaborate with different product teams.
Responsibilities
Work with Senior Experience Design Researchers to plan and execute customer research throughout the design and development lifecycle, from early strategic direction through post-release validation
Employ a wide range of research methods, including generative design research and contextual inquiry, participatory design workshops, interviews, formative and summative usability studies, and quantitative methods, such as surveys and data analytics
Collecting existing research and insights to inform your research questions from around the company, including market and business intelligence, usage analytics, and previous work by other XD researchers
Assisting with empathy and design-thinking workshops with cross-functional teams to ensure that findings and insights are translated into actionable product goals and direction
Sharing customer insights with the broader organization in creative ways to increase customer empathy, including posters, immersion rooms, blog posts, and workshops
Participating in the research community at Autodesk to share and evangelize research findings, collaborate on projects to understand our customers’ end-to-end journey, and to promote research as a strategic driver for our products and services
Minimum Qualifications
Students must be at least 18 years of age
Students must be a full-time student, pursuing a MS or PhD in user experience design, human-computer interaction, information science, data science, or a related field
Students must be actively enrolled in a degree granting academic institution or accredited boot camp at the time of internship
Students must reside and be attending university in the country where the internship is being offered
Students must have previous experience with conducting user research studies and documenting findings (user research for class projects is acceptable)
A mix of previous internship, school project, volunteer and leadership experience is also important
About the US Intern Program
The U.S. program runs from May through August for 12 weeks and will be remote (subject to change). All internships are paid. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, be mentored by industry leaders, work alongside peers from universities all over the country and participate in tech talks and other activities designed to support your personal and professional development.
